DIVISION OF APPRENTICESHIP STANDARDS

The Department of Industrial Relations and Division of Apprenticeship Standards is committed to promoting apprenticeships as viable career paths. More than 63,000 apprentices in California work in one of more than 800 occupations. Apprentices learn from highly skilled and experienced mentors in an environment that combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction. Apprentices get more than a quality, free education; they get paid to learn vital, complex, and marketable skills. A vast majority of these apprentices earn good benefits on top of their wages.
