Student Advisement/High School Graduation
If you are interested in obtaining an Adult High School Diploma, please contact the Adult School by calling 549-1222, or you can visit the Adult School office at 1500 Lizzie Street in San Luis Obispo. There is a $25 registration fee. Please provide a copy of your high school transcript or call the Adult School for assistance.

General Educational Development Test (GED)
Take your preparation classes for the GED test here at the adult school. Check the class listings (page 10) for day and location. When you're ready, take the GED test here too! Call the Adult School for information: 549-1222.

Parent Participation Program
Are you considering sending your child to pre-school? Did you know the Adult School Parent Education Program offers all that pre-school does and more? The Adult School sponsors parenting classes facilitated by credentialed teachers. The SPRING Trimester for Parent Participation classes runs April 1 through June 10, 2013.  Register early. Throughout the years the Adult School Parenting Program has helped enhance the parenting skills of many new moms and dads. These classes are attended by parents and their children. A scholarship fund has been set up to help young parents with the fees for these classes. Please consider donating to this fund when registering for a class.

Excellent Career Training – Affordable and Fast!

The following programs are offered in partnership with Boston Reed College as part of a local Adult Education Regional Collaboration. These programs are designed to prepare participants for career training in healthcare. Course fees include textbooks, classroom materials, externships (where applicable) and certificates of completion.

Clinical Medical Assistants can pursue employment as a healthcare professional in a physician’s office or clinical setting. Participants learn procedures, caring for patients, performing simple laboratory tests and administering medications. This program provides an excellent training opportunity for anyone with a desire to work in the thriving healthcare field helping people. Instruction: 134 hours (including 42 hours online training). Clinical Externship: 160 hours

Veterinary Assistants assist the Veterinarian or the Veterinarian Technician in their daily tasks. Participants learn basic animal care as well as how to examine pets for signs of illness, disease, or injury; workplace safety and hygiene and how to sterilize laboratory and surgical equipment used in laboratories, animal hospitals and clinics. 35 classroom hours / 24 (student coordinated) externship hours offered at the following location:

Electronic Health Records (EHR) Systems Technologists can work in many roles such as Workflow Specialist, Clinical Consultant, Implementation Specialist, Implementation Manager, Technical Support Trainer, or EHR System Trainer. Program topics include Introduction to Healthcare, Applied Informatics, Essential Components of EHR & Health Information Exchange (HIE) Essentials, System Selection & Implementation, Fundamentals of Change Management/Project Management, and Human Factors. This program is offered entirely online, with weekly assignments and a weekly instructor-led virtual class. You will complete 216 hours over 18 weeks.
