Introduction to Computers

Keyboarding and Computer Basics~Spanish & English

Learn basic computer functions while practicing how to type without looking at your fingers. This class will allow each student’s typing speed to progress at their own pace using individualized software. Also learn some great online tutorials to use for practice once the class has ended. E-Mail

E-mail is the communication tool of the future. Attend this beginner class and learn how to create an Email account and keep it organized with folders. Also learn how to print, save and send attachments and  photos using your email. Skill Level: Beginner

 

Internet Basics

This introductory class shows you how to surf the Internet efficiently. We explore a variety of websites, practice search exercises, discuss Internet protection and learn tips and shortcuts galore.Skill Level: Beginner

This course will introduce you to your PC and how to use Windows. Includes an overview of PC hardware and software, Windows, and Windows-based software. Learn how to customize the Windows environment for easy use and how to utilize all of the tools and  utilities included with Windows. Basic typing skills are helpful. Skill Level: Beginner

Introduction  to Microsoft Office 2003

Learn the basics of Microsoft Office 2003. We will spend one class per topic introducing you to Word processing, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, Access database management and Outlook contact management and E-mail. This overview class will introduce you to how these programs work together and help you decide which ones you would like to know more about. Quickbooks is the current standard business accounting program. You will learn  how to input data,  create reports, graphs, checks and manage multiple accounts. Can be used at home or at the office. If you would like to learn what all the digital music hype is about, then this class is for you. Learn how to find and download music from the Internet, save the music from your CDs onto your computer, tame your Windows Media Player, and make your own music CDs. Be prepared to have fun! “eBusiness” ~ How to Sell Online

How To Build a Web Page

What is a website? How does it work? With this current website software you will be on your way to constructing your own website online in no time at all. Holiday Mailing Label How-To’s

Collect all of your scraps of paper with addresses scribbled on them and join us for an evening of fun and organization. By the end of this class you will have your holiday mailing list labels organized, decorated, and ready to go. Create return address and mailing labels. Labels are included.

Basic typing skills and knowledge of Windows are highly recommended.

 

Digital Photography

Using Your Digital Camera & Computer

Want to take the mystery out of getting the most from your digital camera and the many features it offers? Topics covered will be using basic features of your camera, downloading pictures to your computer, organizing and managing your digital photos, simple photographic corrections and using your photographs for prints, in e-mails and in simple digital  documents. Bring digital camera and  manual to the first class. Basic typing skills and experience with Windows are required. Skill Level: Intermediate

 

Enhancing Your Digital Photos

Experience the magic of the ‘digital darkroom’! Digital photos can easily be used in a variety of ways through the use of a computer and image-editing software, such as Photoshop. Class is well suited to those who are considering purchasing image-editing software, as well as those who already own or have access to software. This class expands upon the basic image-editing techniques from the Using Your Digital Camera & Computer course. Topics include working with “layers,” multiple-exposures/combining images, toning black and white photographs, “hand-tinting” black and white photographs, repairing and retouching photographs, special effects, selection tools, text tools, and incorporating a scanner into your digital photography. Explore ways to enhance printed materials and digital documents, such as flyers and presentations with your digital photos. Adobe Photoshop CS will be used in the classroom, but many of the techniques taught are transferable to other image-editing software on the market.

Take advantage of  open lab time and the assistance of the instructor when needed. Students are asked to bring the personal images they wish to work with on a CD or USB flash drive to the first meeting.  Basic typing skills and experience with Windows are required.

Improving Your Photographic Eye

Are you ready to improve the artistic and compositional qualities of your photographs and increase their impact? Instruction will include: “working the subject,” composition and balance, simplicity, framing, viewpoint, action photography, and depth of field. Explore a variety of photographic examples including: landscape, portraiture, nature, fashion, and photojournalism. Students are asked to bring their digital camera and the manual to the first class and are encouraged to bring  personal images on CD or USB flash drive.  Basic typing skills and experience with Windows are required.  Skill Level: Intermediate
