Programs & Services

We offer a wide range of programs and activities to meet the needs and interests of our community. Classes are held in Avila, Los Osos, Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo. We are committed to lifelong learning and personal growth and are dedicated to building community through developing relationships. We are part of the  San Luis Obispo County Adult Education Consortium serving students throughout San Luis Obispo.This Consortium has enabled us to bring greater opportunity to community members seeking education for enhancing their place in the workforce. 

Student Advisement/High School Graduation

If you are interested in obtaining an Adult High School Diploma , please contact the Adult School by calling 805-549-1222, or visit the Adult School office at 1500 Lizzie Street in San Luis Obispo. Please provide a copy of your high school transcript or call the Adult School for assistance. 

High School Equivalency - GED or HiSET

Take your preparation classes for the GED or HiSET tests here at the Adult School. Check the class listings for day and location. When you're ready, take the GED/HiSET test here too! Lost your test scores? Go to the GED & HiSET official site and request copies. Call the Adult School for information: 805-549-1222.

Career Technical Education

Classes are open to adults 18 years of age and older who want to enhance their job skill marketability. Choose from courses in office skills, computer applications, and other employment areas. 

English as a Second Language

Choose from several levels of ESL, English pronunciation, citizenship, and academic courses. Classes offered through a partnership with Cuesta College at Pacheco Elementary and Los Osos Middle School.

Community Education Classes 

Let us enhance your lifelong learning experience with a class that fits your desires. Choose from an ever-changing, wide variety of offerings from categories such as;  art, cooking, dance, language, fitness, music, sewing and special interests .

Parent Participation Program

Are you considering sending your child to preschool? Did you know the Adult School Parent Education Program offers all that preschool does and more? The Adult School sponsors parenting classes facilitated by credentialed teachers. The  FALL Trimester for Parent Participation classes runs September 6 through December 19, 2016. Register early. Throughout the years the Adult School Parenting Program has helped enhance the parenting skills of many new moms and dads. These classes are attended by parents and their children. A scholarship fund has been set up to help young families with the fees for these classes. Please consider  donating to this fund by calling the office (805) 549-1222.

Registration, Fees & Refund Policy

Admission & Class Registration-All classes at San Luis Coastal Adult School are open to adults of San Luis Obispo and neighboring communities. Preregistration is required. Please register at least 1 week prior to the first class. This will prevent classes from being canceled due to low enrollment. All registrations will be dated and processed in the order they are received. Use one of the following choices for registering:

If paying by credit card you may fax your form to 805-544-0638.

Insufficient Funds - an $8 fee will be charged for checks returned by the bank.

REFUND POLICY- In the event that the class is canceled due to low enrollment class fees are fully refundable. Refunds, minus a $10 service fee, will be granted if a student withdraws no less than one day prior to the first day of class. A refund is not granted for students withdrawing from a class on the day it is scheduled to meet and after class has begun. Please choose classes carefully! There is no service fee charge for a student who transfers to another class.

PARKING - All Department of Motor Vehicles regulations apply. Park only in designated spaces. City parking tickets are issued on campus.

COMPLAINT POLICY - Any complaint regarding district compliance with state or federally-funded program regulations or possible discrimination should be reported to the administrator in charge.
